Kanalytics Announces Global Partnership with Microsoft to Deliver
Solutions Sharing Network
Company
Leverages Knowledge Management Expertise and Extends Offering for
Commercial Markets
Annapolis, Maryland – December 14, 2004 – Kanalytics Inc., a leading
provider of knowledge management and business intelligence solutions,
today announced its global partnership with Microsoft (MSFT)
to deliver an online knowledge management solution for the government
sector. With the Solutions Sharing
Network (SSN) offering, organizations
will not only be able to share information, but also share code and
applications, all by leveraging their existing technology tools. The result is increased collaboration
and a dramatic boost in efficiency, productivity and overall
effectiveness. The SSN
initiative marks Kanalytics’ first critical milestone in bringing
its knowledge management solutions to the market.
The announcement comes on the
heels of Microsoft’s recent launch of its Solutions Sharing Network
for government agencies, a global initiative to increase communication,
information and knowledge exchange and collaboration between government
organizations, academic institutions and other public sector agencies. Kanalytics will continue to work with
Microsoft on the initiative, and will now make its product –
Kanalytics’ Knowledge and Collaboration Center – available
for commercial application. The offering will be initially designed for
the healthcare/pharmaceutical and financial services markets.
“Government customers have been asking
Microsoft for a better way to share information and content across
departments, ministries and countries. The Solutions Sharing
Network is an excellent cross government knowledge management platform
that enhances communication, collaboration and information sharing.
We are proud to partner with Kanalytics to deliver these knowledge
management solutions to our customers,” said Pete Hayes, vice
president of the public sector for Microsoft in Europe, the Middle East
and Africa (EMEA).
The SSN
web-based portal, available in nine languages, is currently being used by
governments around the globe to share information, solutions,
architectures, best practices and application source codes. Microsoft is currently providing the
solution, which is based on Kanalytics’ patent pending technology,
to 13 government or municipal organizations and expects 200 sites by next
year.
“We are excited about partnering
with Kanalytics to bring our SSN
vision to life. Our goal is to
enable collaboration so that organizations can share IT solutions,
architectures, code, and best practices to increase efficiencies and
reduce long-term costs,” said Gerri Elliott, corporate vice
president for the Worldwide Public Sector organization at Microsoft.
“The deployment of SSN has
already begun in the government sector, and we expect Kanalytics –
with its deep understanding of knowledge management, as well as its
ability to deliver customized knowledge management products across
industries – will play a key role to build and implement SSN
around the globe.”
Unlike other knowledge
management offerings that require customers to purchase additional
products and technologies, Kanalytics leverages clients’ existing
IT investment in Microsoft tools. The knowledge management platform is an
environment that allows people to share enterprise objectives, functional
processes, organizational units, people and information resources. Features
include program and project management, portfolio management, as well as
performance management capabilities.
Business intelligence features are a key ingredient to the success
of the product suite featuring customer analysis, customer segmentation,
attrition analysis, and churn analysis, among others.
“We have seen an
incredible need in the market to do more with fewer resources –
organizations need to maximize IT investment, while improving efficiency,
enhancing collaboration and increasing responsiveness. Despite this need, many organizations
lack the technology foundation to enable this kind of knowledge,”
said Steve Cranford, CEO of Kanalytics.
Cranford continued,
“Until now, traditional knowledge management platforms have been
costly and difficult to implement or adopt. By leveraging an
organizations’ existing IT investment, our joint solution with
Microsoft is a first important step in what we expect will be a
transformative knowledge management solution for both the public and
private sectors. In essence, we’re creating what we believe will be
an ERP equivalent for enterprise information management.”
Kanalytics has been working to develop this technology with Microsoft
over the last 12 months.
The knowledge management
product for the private sector will be available for purchase in the
first quarter of 2005. Kanalytics
is currently working with beta customers such as the National Association
of Counties (NACO) and is working with Cooley Godward LLP to close on
investor funding that will be used for product development and marketing.
